Celtics Advance to Eastern Conference Finals

Haliburton's Push, Holiday and White Earn All-Defense Nods

The Boston Celtics have advanced to the Eastern Conference finals in the 2024 NBA playoffs after defeating the Brooklyn Nets in Game 7 of their second-round series. The Celtics won the pivotal game 100-96, with a team effort offsetting a star turn by Kyrie Irving in his playoff return to Boston, where he once played.

Haliburton's Push

Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton was publicly pushed by coach Rick Carlisle to up his game, and he responded with a strong performance in Game 7. Haliburton finished with 20 points and 12 assists, leading the Pacers in both categories. He also hit a key three-pointer late in the fourth quarter to give the Pacers a five-point lead.

Holiday and White Earn All-Defense Nods

Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday and forward Bobby Portis were named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team on Monday. Holiday and Portis were both key contributors to the Bucks' success this season, as they finished with the league's best defensive rating. Holiday averaged 1.6 steals per game, while Portis averaged 1.2 blocks per game.
